You're about to dive into a sun-drenched scene of 1920s beach chic that'll make you yearn for the Roaring Twenties. George Barbier's Au Lido captures the essence of carefree seaside glamour with a dash of Art Deco flair.

Feast your eyes on sleek bathing beauties, their bobbed hair and daring swimsuits epitomizing flapper fashion. A statuesque redhead steals the show, parasol aloft like a technicolor halo. Her companions lounge in various states of undress, from risqué one-pieces to flowing floral kimonos.

This isn't just sunbathing – it's an artful display of Jazz Age joie de vivre. Barbier's keen eye for haute couture shines through in every brushstroke, from the graphic swimwear to the bold accessories.

Transport yourself to this stylish slice of the French Riviera, where the sun always shines and the party never ends.

Origin Story

George Barbier (1882–1932) was one of the leading French illustrators of the early 20th century. Born in Nantes, he quickly rose to prominence after his first exhibition in 1911, receiving commissions for theater and ballet costume design, book illustration, and haute couture fashion work.

Known as part of "The Knights of the Bracelet," a group lauded for their elegance, Barbier's contemporaries included his cousins Bernard Boutet de Monvel and Pierre Brissaud. Throughout his career, he also explored jewelry, glass, and wallpaper design, while contributing writings to the Gazette du Bon Ton.

Barbier worked on costume design for the Folies Bergère and gained wider recognition with his work in L'Illustration magazine. He passed away in 1932, leaving behind a legacy of sophistication and innovation in art and fashion design.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical

Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal

Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)

Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws

Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
