The Song of Solomon - Francois-Louis Schmied Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.
Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.
Giclée Printing

Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts. Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years. And the neo-pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free.
About the Artwork
King Solomon sits square to you on a throne whose arms end in rams' heads, and the page holds the stillness of an audience about to begin. François-Louis Schmied sets the king against a deep oxblood panel and pours pearl strands down both sides of the face. A scepter tipped with a white star rests in the left hand, and a ring on the right carries a single bright dot.
The robe is gray-ivory, scattered with periwinkle medallions and sprays. Orange-patterned slippers sit on a black footstool. Steps climb at both sides of the throne to short columns with red and white capitals, and each ram's head curls into a spiral of moss-green relief.
Paris in 1925 was the year of the great decorative arts exposition that gave Art Deco its name, and collectors paid for books made as objects. Schmied, who would die in Morocco at Tahanaout in January 1941, engraved his illustrations on wood, and the page here carries that dense grain in olive-gold. The 1925 edition of Le Cantique des Cantiques (Song of Songs), set this biblical tale in Ernest Renan's French translation.
The Song of Solomon awaits your bedroom or library as a decorative throne print, where a still gaze and a column of pearls make a plain wall feel attended.
