Street in Tangier - Henry Ossawa Tanner Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.
Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.
Giclée Printing

Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts. Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years. And the neo-pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free.
About the Artwork
You are standing in the coolest place in Tangier. Henry Ossawa Tanner sends two wanderers away from you through a vaulted lane of teal and cobalt toward a block of yellow light. He raises the vault in ridged oil, each rib of paint standing proud of the canvas, and two figures in pale green robes wait in a doorway on the left under dark purple beams.
Covered lanes keep the midday sun off the stones, so people cross from heat into cool and back again all day. And a bridge of rooms built over a lane is called a sabat, and Moroccan families raised them to gain upstairs space without giving up the street below. Dark ceiling beams show along the top of the canvas, and an awning juts out under the far opening.
A pale square of sun lands high on the right. Rose and ochre warmth rises from the paving. Tanner, whose biblical canvases sent him to Palestine and Egypt, lets light play the lead. Even though shade fills most of the picture. A deep blue that gathers in the doorway and pools along the foot of the wall.
Street in Tangier awaits your hallway or study as a teal-vault Moroccan painting, where one crossing from cool to sun makes any room feel longer.
