Each fold and vein of the plant radiates crisp geometry, contrasting the supple curves of the animal. Born from shin-hanga’s revival of ukiyo-e traditions, the work threads Meiji-Taishō anxieties about modernity with timeless themes of disguise, trickery, and natural spectacle.
