Near the white lotus flowers, a dark-skinned snake charmer plays a wooden flute, beckoning curious lions and a peering elephant from the shadows. A bird of paradise perches above while orange-eyed beasts watch the nude woman’s quiet trance.
Painted in 1910, this French Post-Impressionist masterpiece captures Naive Art at its most potent.
