Midnight Alchemist catches its demon mid-experiment, pale hand steadying a slender wand beneath a butter-yellow harvest moon. Soot-black ears rise in twin points. Ember-orange eyes burn below a crest of windblown hair, and the long muzzle tilts toward the work with a chemist's patience.

His wardrobe is the laboratory. A star-flecked cloak spills gold leaf dots across pitch velvet, each one a failed sun from some earlier furnace. Under it hangs a moss green brocade robe stitched with primrose blossom and split by a blade of vermilion silk. This is surreal gothic art steeped in Golden Age illustration, where Edmund Dulac's Edwardian gift books and Art Nouveau line taught fairy tale monsters to dress well.

Around him the moonlit garden keeps its own hermetic recipe. Powder-blue hydrangea crowd a ruined wall where fireflies drift through bottle green dark. One scarlet rose waits at his hem.
