About the Artist

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892) was the luminous final star of Japan’s ukiyo-e tradition, brilliantly fusing classical techniques with bold innovation.

Born in Edo, Yoshitoshi apprenticed under master Kuniyoshi, developing exceptional skill in capturing delicate emotion and intricate beauty.
