About the Artwork

You'll cradle a masterpiece in your palm with this phone case showcasing Kamisaka Sekka's Snow. The Rinpa school's minimalist elegance will envelop your device in wintry splendor. A lone figure, shrouded in inky robes, leans into a flurry of meticulously dotted snowflakes.

Sekka's genius shines through the stark contrast between the shadowy silhouette and the swirling white specks. The conical hat and bamboo staff hint at a traveler's journey through nature's tempest. A gradient backdrop shifts from stormy slate to warm ochre, evoking twilight's embrace.

This case transforms your phone into a pocket-sized art gallery. You'll find yourself lost in contemplation of Sekka's visual haiku, marveling at how he captures winter's essence with such economy of form.

The woodblock print's delicate details will spark conversation, inviting others to appreciate Japanese aesthetic traditions. With every glance, you'll be transported to a world where silence falls as gently as snowflakes, finding zen-like calm amidst life's bustle.

Origin Story

Kamisaka Sekka, born in 1866 in Kyoto, was the visionary who revived the Rinpa school, blending traditional Japanese motifs with bold, modern design. His art transcended mere decoration, capturing the essence of nature with a vibrant, almost ethereal touch.

Sekka honored the legacy of Rinpa masters like Ogata Kōrin, while daring to innovate—his works were a dynamic mix of reverence and rebellion. His colors were bold, his patterns intricate, each piece a dance between tradition and modernity.

Sekka’s influence, from textiles to ceramics, reshaped Japanese culture, embodying a timeless balance between innovation and the beauty of tradition.

I love this case! It’s beautiful! I’ve had it for about a month so far and have dropped my phone several times - my phone stayed in and the case is holding up well. The quality of the image isn’t grainy - you can see all the little details :)

Fabulous, Kellie! So pleased to hear your new treasure's guarding your phone in style. I love how fine the printing detail is, too — makes all the difference. Thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts. Enjoy!

Thanks Greg! Very happy to hear this print impressed like the others. Appreciate you taking the time to share. And here’s to your new treasure trove of daydream fuel… enjoy!

A terrific transaction!

The artist captured the spirit of revelry and wild dance. A dancer, say, in the entourage of Dionysus. Sepia—old, say Renaissance (haven’t looked up the artist. The seller was knowledgeable, friendly, and the packaging was secure.

Huzzah! Thanks, James! Delighted you’re delighted and enjoyed our chats about art, design and Renaissance fairs. Look forward to helping you find more members of your retinue in the future.
