About the Artwork
He stands like a forgotten guest dragged from the frescoed halls of Pompeii. Rendered in graphite with a devotion that borders on erotic invocation. Sieger by Sascha Schneider, that queer mystagogue of muscle and myth, gives us a male nude drawn not for modesty nor anatomy but for conquest and cult. His left hand holds a laurel crown like a dropped secret, a conquest refused or recalled, its shadow curling against his thigh like memory made botanical.
His cock becomes the axis mundi of this quiet storm: a fleshy ephebe turned statuesque beauty. Chest shaded with lithic softness, beard cropped in antique measure, calves clenched with Doric restraint. He isn’t posing, he’s presiding. The blank parchment of the background doesn’t recede. It thrones him.
