Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s Picture of Raikō and his Four Companions Conquering the Demon of Mount Ōe catches Shuten-dōji at the second his drunken feast curdles into slaughter. The poisoned sake has done its work. A colossal oni head swings into frame with rust-brown mane bristling and horns jutting. His eyes are wells of ink.
Minamoto no Raikō plunges in below, white hachimaki knotted tight and lamellar samurai armor striped in mustard and vermilion. Usui Sadamitsu snarls on the left. Urabe Suetake, a second of the Shitennō, drives his blade toward the demon’s jaw. Their armor becomes a lacquered hailstorm of teal cords and coral plates.
Yoshitoshi designed this ukiyo-e woodblock print in 1864 as a pupil of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, four years before the Meiji Restoration toppled the shogunate. Late Edo period nerves jangle through the musha-e warrior print. Burnt-orange robe swallows half the sheet as silver cloud scrolls churn behind it.
Hang this Japanese art print and the Heian legend keeps its sword raised, the slate-teal night still ringing with steel.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical
Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal
Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)
Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws
Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
