About the Artwork
Gaslight spills across the Place du Forum in cadmium and sulfur, pooling over cobblestones that shimmer with mauve and ochre reflections. Vincent van Gogh painted this Arles café in September 1888, refusing black pigment entirely—his shadows bloom in prussian blue and violet undertones.
