Artwork Description
A procession of piscine riddles drifts across tarnished ochre, their ribs and whiskers spelling out the language of delirium. Rackham’s imagination splices species until taxonomy dissolves into theatre. Each creature wears a scholar’s expression warped by tide and parody.
Below, stones glint with shells and skulls, a miniature necropolis over which the lizard stretches like the age before laughter. Line becomes current, shadow becomes sediment; nothing rests, everything wriggles toward meaning.
The composition feels both medieval and modern, an illuminated bestiary rewritten for a nervous empire. Humor hides inside anatomy, irony beneath scale and cartilage. Every stroke confesses a fascination with mutation—life sketched between wonder and unease.
