Street, Tangier - John Singer Sargent Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.
Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.
Giclée Printing

Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts. Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years. And the neo-pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free.
About the Artwork
A painter in 1879 could carry a studio down a Tangier lane in his pocket, and John Singer Sargent did. John Singer Sargent saves the paper for it, letting one wash of umber and charcoal-brown fall down the left side and leaving the stone beside it almost bare, so the sheet itself turns into sunlit plaster. A stone arch leaps the lane, a white dome rises in the gap above it, and violet sky floods in behind.
Sargent is twenty-three and it is the winter of 1879 and 1880. Paint had been sold in collapsible metal tubes since 1841, which is why a violet sky, a ribbon of brown wall and a white dome could be caught before the light moved.
Tangier handed Sargent a lane that passes under an arch carrying a room overhead. The stones below sit in its shade at every hour. Pink and rust blossoms spill at the lower right, a lilac shadow slides down the steps, and a few quick touches of crimson and green mark where the flowers turn the corner.
Sargent trained under Carolus-Duran in Paris, a teacher who had his students paint directly with the brush. The habit shows in the speed. Washes pool dark at the borders and dry into soft rings, and the bottom edge fades into unpainted paper so the lane seems to go on past the frame.
Street, Tangier awaits your hallway or study as a Sargent watercolor print, where one arch and a patch of violet sky give a narrow wall real depth.
