Rain at Maekawa, Sagami Province - Kawase Hasui Art Print

Rain falls in soft vertical lines across Soshu Maekawa no Ame, Kawase Hasui's 1932 nocturne of a thatched-roof village tucked along a wet road in Sagami Province. A lone traveler moves beneath a brass-gold paper parasol, robes the color of wet slate, footsteps swallowed by puddled ground.
Windows glow amber down the row of low eaves, each pane a small fire against soot-black walls, and every glow doubles itself in broken streaks across the flooded road. Above, a pine tree spreads its silhouette like torn paper, branches cutting through a sepia-brown sky streaked with rain.
This is shin-hanga at its quietest: Hasui's brush for atmosphere, Watanabe Shozaburo's workshop turning mood into woodblock, ukiyo-e's old bones reshaped for a Showa-era stillness of umber and ochre. Lantern-light pools on wet stone as the lone traveler walks home through the downpour, footsteps the only sound left in the village.
Hang it where evening settles slow, and let the twilight palette work on the room exactly as rain worked that road. Shin-hanga's woodblock craft turned toward atmosphere instead of legend, weather instead of heroes.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical
Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal
Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)
Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws
Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
