About the Artwork
This ignudo flares upward. Not posed, but charged. Wrists twisted in ecstatic tension, he wrests a scarlet ribbon from invisible constraints, body arched as if mid-birth from divine intent. Draped over a pink cloth thick with theatrical suggestion, he perches above the prophet Daniel, yet remains untethered by scriptural duty.
His form is all ochre curves and classical bravado. Pulsing with anatomical bravura and painterly audacity. Michelangelo doesn’t paint obedience; he paints eruption. Each tendon thrums with Dionysian resistance. His upward gaze smirks toward Renaissance order, feet grounded in papal authority, hands choreographing revolt.
