Kiitsu reimagined classical motifs—most notably Wind God and Thunder God—with a vivid theatricality and meticulous brushwork that elevated Edo Rinpa into a distinct, vibrant style. Though not the formal heir to Hōitsu’s lineage, Kiitsu mentored a generation of artists, shaping what is now often called the “Kiitsu school” of Edo Rinpa.
