Joris Hoefnagel's Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta phone case brings a sixteenth-century collaboration to your hand. Vienna's imperial court, around 1561, witnessed an unlikely partnership: Georg Bocskay, a master of Renaissance calligraphy, inscribed flowing italic script across vellum, while the Flemish illuminator Hoefnagel transformed those alphabets into a gallery of natural wonders.

The mussel lies split, its pale exterior giving way to an opalescent interior—anatomical precision rendered in watercolor. Coral-red flowers arch above it; a black beetle sits as tiny punctuation.
