About the Artist

Vincenzo Galdi (1856–1931) emerged from the decadent mists of late 19th-century Italy, his lens laced with the scent of forbidden mythologies.

Contemporaneous with Guglielmo von Plüschow and Baron Wilhelm von Gloeden, Galdi’s photographic pursuits stitched classical desire to modernity’s lewd hunger—capturing the ephemera of nude male beauty in deliberate chiaroscuro.
