Arnold Peter Weisz-Kubínčan (1898–1945) was a Jewish Slovak painter whose bold Expressionist works stood at the vanguard of Slovakia’s interwar art. Born in Ujście, Prussia, and raised in Dolný Kubín, he studied sculpture in Budapest before serving on the Balkan Front in World War I.

His artistic voice emerged in Berlin, where he absorbed the raw emotional intensity of Expressionism. Returning to Slovakia, he painted feverishly, creating nearly 300 works before the Holocaust consumed his world. Forced into hiding, he and his partner, Zorka Kahan-Ring, surrendered to spare their protectors.

Weisz-Kubínčan perished in 1945, but his art survived—hidden in a suitcase, later rediscovered, a testament to resilience and lost genius.
