In Theo van Hoytema’s Kerstnacht, the forest breathes in black ink and pale silence. Two owls, their plumage etched in dense crosshatch, anchor the scene like sentinels of some forgotten winter fable. Snow drapes the ground in sculpted mounds, broken only by the spindled rise of skeletal trees.
Above, pale clouds swell against an inky sky, curling into stylised knots that hint at Art Nouveau’s decorative currents.
