Nothing here repents. That satin mask? It’s a calling card. Draped low over her backside, it parodies decorum while whispering innuendo.
Félicien Rops was never fooled by virtue. With Hypocrisy, he crafted French decadence like a stage where bottoms get more pageantry than faces. This etching capturing symbolist erotic art in peak masquerade, where secrecy perfumes pleasure.
Rops doesn’t illustrate desire—he dissects it. Steeped in French decadence and eroticism. The dark surrealist design encourages you to leer and blush, clutching this anti-clerical phone case like a moral loophole. Her figure a map of gothic eroticism, traced in the soft pallor of 19th-century satire.
Slippery and intoxicating as absinthe, this phone accessory defrocks respectability with every glance. Rops doesn’t illustrate desire—he dissects it. Steeped in French decadence and eroticism. A cheeky temptation that giggles behind a curtain as it kicks the church out and beckons the cabaret in. Baudelaire would’ve chuckled through the blasphemy.
