About the Artist

Ernst Haeckel (16 February 1834 – 9 August 1919) was a German biologist, philosopher, and artist who made major contributions to zoology and evolutionary theory.

He named thousands of new species, mapped genealogical trees of life, and coined terms like "ecology" and "phylogeny." Haeckel was a strong advocate of Darwin's theories, helping popularize evolutionary ideas in Germany.

His book "Art Forms of Nature" features over 100 detailed, colorful illustrations of marine life and influenced the Art Nouveau movement. And Haeckel's influence reached beyond science, blending biology with artistic beauty and philosophy, exploring ideas on evolution and human knowledge.
