Description

Dive into the mesmerizing chaos of Franz Marc's "Genesis II," a woodcut that redefines creation itself. You're not just viewing art; you're witnessing the birth of a new visual language. Marc's bold strokes and dynamic forms swirl before your eyes, dissolving the familiar world into a primordial soup of creativity.

This framed canvas print captures the raw energy of Marc's groundbreaking work. Abstract shapes in striking black, vibrant green, and rich yellow dance across the composition, embodying the turbulent emergence of life from void. You'll feel the pulse of new beginness in every line, every curve.

Marc's artistic evolution shines through this piece. Gone are his earlier animal subjects; here, pure abstraction reigns supreme. The influence of early Bible woodcuts is evident, yet Marc pushes boundaries, creating a thoroughly modern interpretation of Genesis.

This "Schöpfungsgeschichte II" print was destined for a Blaue Reiter Bible project, cut short by World War I. Now, it stands as a testament to Marc's visionary approach, inviting you to contemplate the very essence of creation and artistic rebirth.

About the Artist

Franz Marc (1880–1916) was a German painter and printmaker, known for his vibrant portrayals of animals. As a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter, Marc played a pivotal role in shaping German Expressionism, using bright colors and bold forms to convey emotional and spiritual themes. Marc's mature works focused on animals, reflecting his belief in their purity and connection to nature. Drafted during World War I, he tragically died at the Battle of Verdun in 1916. Despite being labeled a degenerate artist by the Nazis in the 1930s, much of his work survived, cementing his legacy.
