Butterflies - Kamisaka Sekka Cho Senshu Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints
Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do. Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks.
High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones.
The matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints
Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural.
Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified European knotless pine, finished with ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints
Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision. Its natural white surface catches light and color with striking clarity.
A precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect.
Your choice of a black, white or natural frame: all made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified European knotless pine.
Giclée Printing
Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts.
Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years.
Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free. Meeting the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications, Residues Standard List (RSL) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.
About the Artwork
Step into the fluttering whirlwind of Japan's artistic renaissance with Kamisaka Sekka's vibrant Butterflies from his revolutionary Chō Senshu collection. This Meiji-era masterpiece isn't just a pretty picture; it's a visual firework exploding above the staid world of traditional Japanese art.
Sekka, the iconoclast of the woodblock world, deftly juggles the precision of ukiyo-e with the sinuous curves of Art Nouveau, creating a feast for the eyes that's both familiar and startlingly new. The crimson and golden lepidoptera don't just flit across the cerulean expanse; they dance a tango on the tightrope between East and West, old and new.
This print is a window into a Japan shedding its isolationist cocoon, stretching its artistic wings in the global breeze. More than décor; it's a conversation starter, a history lesson, and a daily dose of aesthetic dynamite all rolled into one vivid package.
