About the Artwork
Moonlight grazes the contours of a young man and his horse, both poised before a pool so dark it seems to think. Preisler orchestrates muted contrasts—ashen body, opaline mane, violet mist—to stage a meditation on presence. Each contour trembles between corporeal and spectral, emotion dissolving into pigment.
The horse’s lowered gaze anchors the scene’s gravity; its silent companionship becomes ritual more than narrative. Behind them, pale cliffs and distant trees shimmer like submerged memory.
Black Lake transforms stillness into metaphysics: a dialogue between reflection, mortality, and erotic restraint. Preisler’s brushwork absorbs Art Nouveau elegance, Symbolist yearning, and Bohemian introspection into a single suspended breath.
