A Moroccan Street Scene - John Singer Sargent Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.
Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.
Giclée Printing

Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts. Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years. And the neo-pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free.
About the Artwork
The shade in this lane is full of light. Tangier sold winter sun, and a lane like this one is the proof. John Singer Sargent pours a pure cobalt sky between two chalk-pale walls, and the left wall sits in gray-violet shadow while the right answers with a cool echo and a pale wedge of sun high on its face. Cobbles glow pink-brown where the light reaches them and drop into blue where it does not.
Whitewash is the great reflector of Moroccan streets, so sun bounces from one wall into the shadow of the next and the shade here stays gray-violet and never goes black. A tree leans over a low wall at the far end, and an orange window glints beyond it. The lane runs straight to a courtyard where white buildings catch the sun.
In the winter of 1879 and 1880 Sargent painted small oil sketches in Morocco, fast enough to follow whitewash as the sun slid across it. Sargent keeps the paint thin and the touch quick, so the lane carries the dry heat of a winter noon, and a patch of green grass darkens the lower right corner. Nothing in the lane moves, so the light supplies all the action, and the shadows do the talking.
A Moroccan Street Scene awaits your hallway or bedroom as a cobalt-sky oil sketch, where two slabs of shade and a strip of sky cool a sunny room.
