From the Los Caprichos series, the etching strips bare the human tendency to prey upon weakness, showing how cruelty multiplies when one corrupt act feeds another.
Etched lines carve their sagging skin and skeletal grins with merciless clarity, turning superstition and hypocrisy into monsters of habit. The image embodies Goya’s Enlightenment fury, where satire cuts sharper than fear.
