The Bay of Tangier - Henri Matisse Art Print

Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.

Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.

Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.

Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.

Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.

Giclée Printing

Rain has kept Henri Matisse indoors since he stepped off the boat in the Bay of Tangier. Low cloud hangs over the city and the water beneath it glows jade. Matisse paints the slope of flat roofs in thinned color and quick black line. Lavender, cream and chalk blue touch down along the slope in small blocks, each roof a single tilt of the brush. A white domed shrine rests low in the middle of the hillside.

A slim moss-green tower rises behind the shrine with a thin spire on top, and tiny figures in dark coats cross the open earth.

Black line does the building, and thin color slides inside. Clumps of trees mark the far shore, and one small boat sits on the water as an inky dash. Pale blue and lilac touches pick out roofs and doorways, and a green strip of grass edges the foreground. An ochre building holds the near corner, and Matisse signs low at the edge.

The Bay of Tangier awaits your living room or hallway as a rainy harbor townscape, where jade water shines under a gray sky and your wall becomes its own weather system.
