Rub el Hizb Shamsah - Moroccan Qur'an Art Print

Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do.

Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks. High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones. While the matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.

Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.

Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural. Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine. And your artwork is protected behind ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.

Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision, catching light and color with striking clarity. While a precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect. Finished with your choice of frame color — black, white or natural — made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified knotless pine.

Giclée Printing

This page is a stopping place, and the illuminator made everything on it say so. Eight pink bands cross at the center of a red page and gold vines pour out around them. The illuminator laid down vermilion, a deep green outline and a ring of blue waves, then drew every tendril with a fine point. Orange and olive fill the spaces between the bands, and black ticks cross each strip in rows. Yellow flower shapes open in the four corners, each cupped in a curl of vine. A border of brown-gold scrollwork frames the page.

Moroccan copyists wrote in the Maghrebi script and followed the Warsh reading of Nafi, a western text that differs in small details from the Hafs reading common farther east. The star is a Rub el Hizb, two squares laid over each other, the sign Qur'an manuscripts use to mark a quarter of a hizb. A reader who reaches the mark has recited a fixed portion of the text, so the page works as a place to pause. The sunburst medallion around it is a shamsa, and its points reach across the whole sheet.

Moroccan congregations traditionally read one hizb after the dawn prayer and another after sunset, so the whole Qur'an is finished in a month. Pigment sits flat and opaque on the page, so the red reads as solid and the metallic stroke rides above it in a thin raised shine. Gold meets red and red meets green with no shading between, so every edge is a change of hue.

Rub el Hizb Shamsah awaits your study or quiet corner as an illuminated Qur'an page, where the place to pause is drawn in gold.
