Morning at Mitohama - Kawase Hasui Art Print
Couldn't load pickup availability
Morning breaks low over Mitohama, and the water holds two colors at once, pale jade near the pebbled shingle and a deeper cobalt further out where the bay meets the horizon. A single limestone headland rises mid-frame, its cliff face bleached by salt spray beneath a crown of pine, one small sail passing at its base like a punctuation mark in an otherwise empty sentence.
Two beached fishing craft anchor the foreground, hulls dark with age, oars stacked inside like unfinished labor waiting for the tide's return. Nothing in the scene moves quickly, the stillness holding a fisherman's patience, caught between one wave and the next.
Mount Fuji sits far left, softened by distance into three flattened planes of azure-gray, its snowfields catching the palest wash of the woodblock's ink. Kawase Hasui composed this Suruga Bay view in 1953, decades into a career built on documenting Japan's shifting coast for the shin-hanga workshop of Watanabe Shozaburo, whose printers layered each color block by hand from carved cherrywood.

Wall Art Size Guides

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical
Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal
Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)
Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws
Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
