He twists like a forbidden thought. One knee raised, the other lost beneath folds of bruised crimson and swamp-green cloth. The gaze cuts sideways, not toward heaven, but toward some internal reckoning only the body knows.

Michelangelo renders him not as helper nor ornament, but as rupture: an erotic digression wrapped in anatomical bravado. Each contour — from scapula to heel — dares the sacred vault to contain him. His hand, slack on thigh, betrays no devotion. This ignudo listens to no prophet, not even the Persian Sibyl at his feet.

He exists between gesture and withdrawal, a frescoed paradox too sculptural for theology, too deliberate for accident. A figure flayed by posture, not pain.

Origin Story

Michelangelo Buonarroti — sculptor of rupture, architect of theological erotics — birthed his visual cosmos from Carrara stone and Sistine ceilings.

Born 1475 in Caprese, he torched divine order into anatomical excess: David’s veined thigh, the Pietà’s passive ache, the Last Judgment’s torqued orgy of resurrection.

His Florentine Catholicism collided with Neoplatonic sensuality, transfiguring biblical bodies into queer pagan machinery. In Rome, he crowned papal ceilings with nude apostasy disguised as fresco. He sketched like a surgeon, carved like a mystic, designed like a tyrant. Painter. Engineer. Devotee of male musculature.

Michelangelo's legacy blooms in every cathedral corner where shame and beauty hold hands, lips trembling. Eternity, in flesh, made obsessive.

Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal

Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

How to Hang your Artwork

1. D-rings (most secure)

Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

How to Hang your Artwork

2. Straight onto screws

Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
