The sun sketches latticework onto stone as ink bleeds across parchment—held taut by the man reading beneath the carved marble kiosk. His silk sash spills red over muslin like a banner of trade, while the horses shift weight beside him, too adorned to be beasts of burden. One is black, bridle embroidered; the other, a dappled grey under a mounted courier paused mid-errand. Behind them, Lahore’s sandstone breathes warm against frescoed facades.
Architecture blooms upward in fractal detail—arched frescoes, tessellated memories, Mughal syntax rendered in ochre and ultramarine. Ornamental arches frame tiled stories: floral bursts, indigo vines, sacred geometry in pigment and plaster. Beneath the Mughal cornice, shadow pools like a ledger unfinished. Pigeons preside over commerce from cornices above. Traders behind the counter lean in: heads turbaned in red and ochre, deliberating scrolls against a backdrop of lattice and tile.
