About the Artist

August Macke (1887–1914) was a key figure in German Expressionism and a leading member of Der Blaue Reiter. Macke's work reflected the vibrancy of early 20th-century European avant-garde movements, integrating diverse styles into his own colorful and expressive pieces.

Macke lived during a dynamic period for German art, engaging deeply with the emerging movements of his time. His friendship with Franz Marc further influenced his artistic vision.

Tragically, like many of his contemporaries, Macke's life was cut short during World War I, but his innovative work continues to inspire and resonate in the world of modern art.
