Description

Transform your note-taking with this A5 spiral-bound notebook featuring Kamisaka Sekka's "Flute Player." This Meiji-period gem adorns your new writing companion, blending Rinpa school aesthetics with Art Nouveau flair.

The cover showcases a solitary musician in a pistachio-hued kimono, adorned with subtle bamboo patterns, seated amidst a flurry of gossamer specks. Sekka's innovative style is evident in the figure's distinctive kanmuri headdress and the kimono's fluid drapery.

The notebook's palette of sage, plum, and ecru evokes the refined tastes of Japan's artistic revolution. As you jot down your thoughts, let the interplay of negative space and delicate brushwork inspire your creativity. This isn't just stationery; it's a portable gallery piece that invites contemplation of Meiji-era artistic innovation.

Elevate your daily musings, plans and schemes with a touch of Japanese art history, and watch as your ideas flow as smoothly as the artist's brushstrokes.

About the Artist

Kamisaka Sekka, born in 1866 in Kyoto, was the visionary who revived the Rinpa school, blending traditional Japanese motifs with bold, modern design. His art transcended mere decoration, capturing the essence of nature with a vibrant, almost ethereal touch. Sekka honored the legacy of Rinpa masters like Ogata Kōrin, while daring to innovate—his works were a dynamic mix of reverence and rebellion. His colors were bold, his patterns intricate, each piece a dance between tradition and modernity. Sekka’s influence, from textiles to ceramics, reshaped Japanese culture, embodying a timeless balance between innovation and the beauty of tradition.
