William Morris (1834–1896) was a visionary English designer, poet, and socialist activist, whose profound influence on the Arts and Crafts movement reshaped British decorative arts, interior design, and modern fantasy literature.

Rejecting industrial mass production, Morris championed handcrafted textiles, medieval-inspired patterns, and artisanal bookmaking, reviving traditional British textile arts, wallpaper design, and stained glass craftsmanship. He was intimately connected to the Pre-Raphaelites and co-founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. (later Morris & Co.), a firm that defined Victorian interior decoration. In 1891, he established the Kelmscott Press, crafting exquisitely printed books that influenced modern typography and fine press publishing.
