About the Artwork
Saffron-dyed ground saturates the eye before the blooms take hold. This Carnations flower pattern fabric iPhone case carries the visual grammar of Indo-European chintz traditions—sixteenth-century trade textiles that moved through Portuguese ships and Dutch warehouses before settling into English parlors.
Crimson carnation heads open in full petaled sprawl beside smaller marigold-hued buds, prussian indigo blossoms dotting the field like scattered lapis. Hunter-toned stems curve without repeating, each vine a calligraphic stroke borrowed from Persian miniatures and Mughal botanical scrolls. The mustard-gold background recalls turmeric-stained cottons drying along the Coromandel coast.
Between every petal, a small history of block-printing labor breathes—mordant-dyed color locked into fiber for centuries, now wrapped around glass and circuitry.
