About This Artwork
Wings open like secrets on the verge of being kept. Monarchs, emperors, fritillaries—they drift across a white field threaded with vine, each painted segment a taxonomy of longing.
Paul Gervais doesn’t just depict butterflies and moths; he conducts a ceremony of flight pinned in perpetual stillness. More than a garden, it’s a manuscript written in chitin and nectar, where every butterfly reads like an illuminated letter from Earth’s quieter chapters. Ochre-stained Argynnis lean into trumpet vines. The delicate comma of a blue Copper balances the palette. Every antenna curves like a question without answer.
In your hand, this case becomes a botanical reliquary of motion, a keepsake of ephemeral histories captured in enamel precision. Gervais, always the naturalist-romantic, offers not nostalgia, but attention—a spiraled proof that beauty was always this intricate, this exact. A case not for protection alone, but for pause.
