Dive into the azure depths of Edward White's 1930s blue compote glass art print. This crystalline creation, a symphony in sapphire, beckons you to explore its elegant contours. The compote's wide, shallow bowl perches atop a twisted stem, reminiscent of a frozen whirlpool. Its fluted base, a marvel of precision glasswork, ripples outward like a stylized sunburst.

White's masterful illustration captures every facet, from the translucent rim to the deeper cobalt hues pooling at its center. Light seems to dance across the surface, creating a mesmerizing interplay of cerulean highlights and indigo shadows.

This fine art print isn't just decor; it's a portal to the era of Depression glass treasures. Display it in your dining room or bar area to infuse your space with vintage charm and a touch of Art Deco sophistication.

Let this antique glassware artwork transport you to a time when even dessert dishes were infused with jazz age glamour, inviting you to savor the sweetness of bygone elegance.

Artist Biography

This artist was a contributor to the Index of American Design. A program of the Federal Art Project that produced a detailed pictorial survey of the crafts and decorative arts in the United States.

Between 1935 and 1942, around 400 artists contributed to the creation of 18,257 watercolor drawings, which are now housed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The collection aimed to document American decorative and folk arts, capturing cultural heritage more as archival record than personal artistic expression.

The Index's objective was to establish a contextual foundation for American art and design by documenting crafts and objects created between the colonial era and the late 19th century. Among the outcomes of this vast endeavor was Clarence Hornung's "Treasury of American Design," and it also served as an employment program, providing jobs for about a thousand individuals across 34 states.
