Three Birds Perched on Branches - Katsushika Hokusai Art Print
Couldn't load pickup availability
Katsushika Hokusai paints stillness the way a hand cups a heartbeat: two songbirds crowd a single sweeping branch, one dipping forward to look beyond its partner, another tilting its head skyward, throat washed in a rust-pink pigment barely darker than dawn light on rice paper.
This is kacho-ga, the bird-and-flower tradition Hokusai returned to across his long career in Edo-period Japan, trading Mount Fuji's basalt cliffs for the softer architecture of feathers. Ink pools thin, then thickens along the wing tips, a bokashi wash that lets black tail feathers fan out behind them like a folded paper screen.
Below, a second branch carries a plum tree pushing its first ume blossoms into the cold: five petals apiece, centers dark as ink drops. A third bird arrives mid-flight, wings raised, beak parted, reaching for the flowering wood before winter lets go. Sumi ink and watercolor share the washi paper's grain, leaving open space wide enough for silence to sit between one bird and the next.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical
Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal
Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)
Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws
Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
