Description

Unbridle your creativity with this enchanting spiral bound notebook featuring a mid-20th century American watercolor carousel horse. The cover art transcends mere decoration, offering a portal to a bygone era of fairground revelry.

Soft grays and greens dance with vibrant primaries, as the artist's brush captures the illusion of motion in still pigments. The horse's blue mane and ochre tail whip in an imaginary breeze, while its ornate trappings - a emerald saddle rimmed in scarlet and gold - speak to the intricate artistry of carousel craftsmanship.

This notebook marries functionality with folk art nostalgia, inviting writers and sketchers to fill its pages with ideas as vivid as the prancing steed adorning its cover. More than just a writing tool, it's a tangible slice of Americana, perfect for journaling enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone yearning to infuse their daily scribbles with the whimsical spirit of carnival days past.

About the Artist

This artist was a contributor to the Index of American Design. A program of the Federal Art Project that produced a detailed pictorial survey of the crafts and decorative arts in the United States. Between 1935 and 1942, around 400 artists contributed to the creation of 18,257 watercolor drawings, which are now housed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The collection aimed to document American decorative and folk arts, capturing cultural heritage more as archival record than personal artistic expression. The Index's objective was to establish a contextual foundation for American art and design by documenting crafts and objects created between the colonial era and the late 19th century. Among the outcomes of this vast endeavor was Clarence Hornung's "Treasury of American Design," and it also served as an employment program, providing jobs for about a thousand individuals across 34 states.
