His brush — loaded, dragged, released — maps the cascade's grammar: opaque white lifted from wet paper for foam, violet-inflected shadow pooling behind submerged stone. The pebble shore — tawny ochre, dove-gray, spotted umber — reads as pure abstraction: a foreground that refuses narrative in favor of sensation alone.
