Dragon Flying Above Turbulent Waves - Utagawa Kuniyoshi Art Print
About the Wall Art
Fine Art Prints

Forget cheap reproductions and printable posters. Only the best will do. Velvety matte fine art paper (warm white, archival-grade, 200gsm) with bold, vibrant, non-toxic pigment inks.
High-definition print lab techniques give you sharper details, deeper saturation and true-to-life tones.
The matte surface keeps glare down and archival-grade materials mean the colors you fall for stay vivid for decades.
Framed Fine Art Prints

Your print arrives framed and ready to hang, so it goes straight from the box to your wall.
Chevron cut wooden frames make a timeless statement in three distinctive colors: black, white and natural.
Each frame is made of sustainably sourced FSC® certified European knotless pine, finished with ultra-clear perspex glaze that’s lighter than glass and shatter-resistant.
Float Framed Canvas Prints

Luscious artist-grade cotton canvas, hand-stretched and finely textured, gives every detail depth and precision. Its natural white surface catches light and color with striking clarity.
A precisely measured floating frame leaves a slim gap around the canvas, so it seems to hover with a sleek, gallery-worthy effect.
Your choice of a black, white or natural frame: all made from sustainably sourced FSC® certified European knotless pine.
Giclée Printing

Forget 4 color CMYK. Giclée layers up to 12 — alive with deeper shadows, richer highlights and multidimensional contrasts.
Pro-lab printing process helps art stay bold & breathtaking for up to 100 years.
Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free. Meeting the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications, Residues Standard List (RSL) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.
About the Artwork
Picture the sea as skin and this dragon as its tattoo. In 1831 Utagawa Kuniyoshi was riding fame from his Suikoden warrior series, prints that sent Edo men to tattoo masters asking for scales across their backs. Dragon Flying Above Turbulent Waves reads like that ink come loose. It has peeled off a shoulder and flown free across the ocean.
Kuniyoshi designed this ryū with a fighter's appetite. Slate-gray scales ripple across its hide. Mustard-yellow spines fan outward like torn sails in a gale. Vermilion flame licks along its flanks, the heat of a creature that brings rain and swallows lightning.
Below, the ukiyo-e woodblock print turns to water. Prussian blue, a pigment newly flooding Edo print shops, curls into chalk-white foam clawing at the beast. A whirlpool spins at lower right. Call it Ryūjin's doorway, the sea dragon king's palace gate left ajar.
Beside the plunging head, the Ichiyūsai Kuniyoshi signature brushes down a dusky mauve sky. Hang this dragon art print in any space that feels too calm. By nightfall your wall will smell of salt and thunder. And every guest will pass with trepidation beneath this rain dragon still dripping from the storm.
