The monk's olive-hued robe, adorned with a black collar, drapes gracefully, conveying both humility and reverence. Subtle blue and red accents punctuate the earthy palette, hinting at the hidden depths of monastic life. His shaved head and serene expression embody the essence of Buddhist contemplation.

Every brushstroke in this artwork tells a story of meditation, discipline, and cultural heritage. From the flowing folds of the garment to the delicate rendering of facial features, this piece offers a window into China's rich spiritual traditions.

Origin Story

Hardy Jowett was a renowned art historian and textile expert known for his extensive studies of Qing Dynasty Manchu fashion. His meticulous research delved into the intricate designs of longpao robes, phoenix crowns, and kesi-woven fabrics that defined the opulence of the Qing era.

Jowett’s passion for preserving the heritage of Manchu fashion led him to document the intricate symbolism in garments—like the nine dragons on Jifu or the embroidered plum blossoms on winter sleeves—that conveyed messages of power, prosperity, and resilience.

His scholarship helped elevate these traditional arts, showing the world that every thread, stitch, and design was not just decoration, but a reflection of the cultural heartbeat of an empire.

Today, Hardy Jowett's legacy lives on as a key reference for historians and fashion enthusiasts who seek to understand the grandeur and intricacies of Qing Dynasty attire.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical

Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal

Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)

Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws

Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
