Artwork Description

In Young Naked Man on a Bed with Cat, Lanfranco composes a curve of spine, a clasp of sheets, a companion animal perched in the spotlight. Oil on canvas works through thin underpainting and patient glazing; the linen ground steadies the modeling of calf, hip, and scapula.
