Beneath the umber hush of Jægersborg’s myth-breeding grove, a solitary male figure carves his arc into the velvet air—nude, sun-flushed, tensile, arrow mid-tremor. This is not a man: this is tension eroticized, a Danish Apollo made flesh under Paulsen’s fevered brush.
His thighs radiate the pinkish bloom of bodily ruin, of carnal battle barely won. Shadows of moss and muscle converge—bark as bruise, antler as forearm. The bow, more lover than weapon, stretches taut between want and aim. Around him, the forest presses in like gossip—leaves aching with voyeurism, the dappled light licking his abdomen.
No myth, no fable—only the moment before puncture. A homosexual gaze coded beneath oil, yet sweating through each stroke: Copenhagen’s 1890s studio heat, Greco-Scandinavian fusion, Faun and Freud in muscular parley.
