About this Artwork
Sun splits the orchard in ochre segment. Figures splayed across the scene like syntax unspooled across late-July's tongue. Shirtless, half-draped, pink-skinned, leggy, lounging.
One man leans, back to birch, hip cocked, trunk bare—ochre trunks clinging, shadowed in vertical bark. Behind him, a figure sprawls at a diagonal: striped cotton across the thighs, torso tipped in sun, arm bent in painterly slope. To the right, a boy in water raises his arms to glide through—flesh gleaming, spine exposed, shoulders squared.
At shore, two men entangle: one crouched, half-nude, offering his hand; the other stands above, shirtless, trousers loose, wrist extended in retrieval. In the background, two wrestle—torsos clutched, muscles taut, limbs knotted in mock-combat, pale fabric cinched at hips.
