About this Artwork
Four mirrored axes collapse into a single botanical event. At the heart of Starry-Eyed, an aloe's fleshy architecture folds back on itself — celadon pale-green meeting forest-dark in a radially symmetrical Op Art mandala where serrated leaf margins saw the air with rust-orange thorns and white-tipped spines.
The central void holds its near-black depths like a sealed chamber, ringed by concentric straw-yellow and deep viridian zones that push the eye outward in kaleidoscopic rotation. Close-up macro photography strips the plant of context, remaking succulent photographic abstraction into something closer to sacred pattern.
Burn-sienna tooth edges trace every diagonal with the precision of a drafting tool. Each lime-chartreuse surface carries faint moisture spotting — proof of a living geometry that Op Art's 1960s pioneers could only approximate with paint.
