Description

Norma Lockwood's fashion masterpiece captures the essence of 1930s American style, blending bohemian flair with vintage charm. Waiting to transport you to a bygone era with this vibrant pocketbook art print.

The intricately woven textile showcases a kaleidoscope of hues - rich reds, deep blues, and earthy browns dance across the canvas. Diamond motifs and geometric patterns evoke the spirit of Art Deco, while the weathered leather and frayed edges whisper tales of adventures past.

This retro handbag isn't just an accessory; it's a time capsule of Depression-era aesthetics. The beaded embellishments and rustic rope handle add textural intrigue, inviting your fingers to trace their contours. Hung in your boudoir or study, this decorative print will infuse your space with the romance of a bygone age.

Let your walls tell stories of speakeasies and suffragettes, of resilience and reinvention. This pocketbook isn't just arm candy - it's a conversation starter, a cultural artifact, and a testament to the enduring allure of vintage fashion.

About the Artist

This artist was a contributor to the Index of American Design. A program of the Federal Art Project that produced a detailed pictorial survey of the crafts and decorative arts in the United States. Between 1935 and 1942, around 400 artists contributed to the creation of 18,257 watercolor drawings, which are now housed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The collection aimed to document American decorative and folk arts, capturing cultural heritage more as archival record than personal artistic expression. The Index's objective was to establish a contextual foundation for American art and design by documenting crafts and objects created between the colonial era and the late 19th century. Among the outcomes of this vast endeavor was Clarence Hornung's "Treasury of American Design," and it also served as an employment program, providing jobs for about a thousand individuals across 34 states.
