A sprawl of sabers, saffron, and silence ruptured. A Harivamsa miniature, Krishna & Balarama Fighting the Enemy detonates across the page in jeweled tumult. Each figure is frozen mid-siege, their faces carved with a fury too ancient for language. Elephants press through the haze like armored monsoons. Hooves rise. Trumpets curl into flame.

Krishna, astride his charger, threads divinity through chaos—blue-skinned and implacable, his gaze steeled with cosmic purpose. Beside him, Balarama wheels his weapon like a celestial current. Their enemies, haloed in gold and rage, fracture beneath the press of myth and mortality. Chintz-clad horses rear like painted ghosts. Shield patterns refract blood and sunlight.

This is Vrishni vengeance illustrated in enamel-like brushwork—Deccan dyes, Rajput precision, Mughal spatial play. Between every patterned border lies a scripture of motion: pearl helmets, coral tunics, bone-white eyes. The battle isn’t remembered. It’s happening—always, and again.

Origin Story

The Harivaṃśa is a monumental Sanskrit epic that serves as an appendix to the Mahābhārata, expanding on Krishna’s divine lineage, cosmic origins, and mythic exploits. Revered as the Harivaṃśa Purāṇa, this ancient text is a cornerstone of Hindu mythology, weaving together genealogical histories, cosmic creation narratives, and esoteric hymns.

Across its three parvas—Harivaṃśa Parva, Viṣṇu Parva, and Bhaviṣya Parva—the text chronicles Krishna’s birth, his pastoral youth in Vrindavan, and his role in shaping the destiny of Dwarka.

Rich in poetic allegory, theological insights, and philosophical depth, the Harivaṃśa predates later Puranic texts like the Viṣṇu Purāṇa and Bhāgavata Purāṇa, making it an invaluable source on Krishna’s early worship, Vedic cosmology, and the evolving tradition of Vaishnavism. The text also presents alternate creation myths, detailed accounts of the Kali Yuga, and hymns to both Shiva and Vishnu, reflecting the synthesis of Vedic and post-Vedic Hindu thought.

A sacred bridge between epic history and divine mythology, the Harivaṃśa continues to illuminate the intricate tapestry of Hinduism’s literary and spiritual heritage.

Framed Art Prints

1. Vertical

Use the sawtooth hanger at the top middle on the back of the frame and hang it on a single screw or nail.

2. Horizontal

Hang the two sawtooth hangers on two screws or nails at the same heightPut two screws or nails in the wall at the same height, spaced the same distance apart as the two sawtooth hangers, then hang your print on them.

Framed Canvas

1. D-rings (most secure)

Screw a D-ring onto the back of the frame on the left and right, both at the same height. A ruler helps here. Then put two screws in the wall where you want your canvas, level with each other and spaced the same distance apart as the D-rings. A spirit level makes this easier. Finally, hook the D-rings onto the screws.

2. Straight onto screws

Keep it simple: put two screws in the wall at the same height and rest the inner lip at the top of the back of the frame on them.
