Mucha's Job of 1898 turns a tobacco advertisement into a lithographic prayer, dark waves of hair spiraling outward like ironwork pulled from a Hector Guimard métro entrance. Czech-born Alphonse Mucha worked these arabesques in twelve-color stone printing at Imp. F. Champenois, layering coral lip, peach flesh tone, viridian rim, and powdered ochre lattice into one continuous decorative pulse.
The model — half-dreaming, half-mercantile muse — fingers a slip of cigarette paper stamped with the JOB logo, her hipline flowing into rosy diaphanous fabric the color of crushed peony. This Belle Époque poster art print belongs to the style Mucha canon: woman as garland, garland as gospel, advertising elevated into the symbolist female icon Paris adored.
